Building a Network – Internet Words From The Heart
I entitled this article, “Building a Network – Internet Words From The Heart” because I wrote it for anyone who works in the Network Marketing industry, online.
Let me start by saying, you cannot please everyone with anything in life. We make no demands of anyone in Network Marketing. You are responsible for your own success.
There are no bosses. Not all of the leaders provide live training and presentation webinars. The leaders who choose to pay for a software and provide these functions, do it in order to share knowledge and mostly for the enrichment and camaraderie of each other. They don’t owe it to anyone.
The webinars are 100% voluntary. I learned a hard lesson many years ago that we are 100% responsible for our own success or failure with anything in life. For example, if people in your network do not want to do what it takes to succeed, you have no right to pass judgement on them. It’s their business, not yours.
Aww…Are you angry because they are doing nothing or quitting? Then, replace them with someone else. Take responsibility! Quit whining. That’s for children who need to learn the lessons of life.
Don’t blame your upline or your downline for your success or failure. Blame yourself! You and I should absolutely refuse to accept responsibility for anyone else’s success or failure, period. It’s not up to me if YOU succeed. It’s not up to you if THEY succeed.
It’s up to YOU to succeed and no one else…Not your upline; not your downline.
Aww…Are you having a tough time enrolling people? Then TAKE CHARGE and create ways to register people…if and only if your goals are important enough to you.
If your written goal is not important enough to you, then by all means, blame your upline and downline for your challenges and failures along the way, but don’t expect anyone else to pay your bills. Take responsibility for your life. Blame yourself.
What? What was that? You don’t have written specific goals?
If you do, you will succeed and take responsibility for your success. If you don’t, you’ll be like the masses and blame everything and everybody else for your failures. You will quit at the first sign of failure, or even after many failures. You will refuse to spend the monthly fee to maintain your membership and take the ‘easy way out’ by claiming poverty.
Successful people, even before they actually realize their goals, never give up and never blame others for their temporary failures along the way. That’s right, temporary failures. You fail when you quit trying, not when you fail and fail again.
If a webinar needs to be cancelled for any reason, let alone family emergencies, you are completely out of line and irresponsible to pass judgement. You don’t owe anybody in your downline anything and your upline doesn’t owe YOU anything.
This industry is 100% voluntary and so is any help you are able to give anyone in your network. Get out of the ‘employer/employee’ mentality. Network Marketing is not a job. It’s a business.
Again, I wrote this article entitled, “Building a Network – Internet Words From The Heart” because I am another leader, stepping out of the Network Marketing crowd, to share with the masses. I want to tell it like it is and hold no punches.
It’s an industry for mature, dedicated, responsible people who are sick and tired of the rat race; people who want more out of life and are willing to do whatever it takes without violating the rights of others; people who are willing to press onward, even when they are having challenges building or maintaining their network.
I used to think… “Am I stupid or something? Am I an idiot for pressing on when I am getting zero results? People join, do nothing, then quit! I must be ‘as soft as a grape’ for staying in this ridiculous business, having no success. That’s it! I’m out of here! I’m going to find a REAL business and not put up with this anymore!”
Yes…that’s how I used to think! That was the ‘old Kevin,’ when I blamed everything else but myself. Of course with what little I did to find people, I would still blame the business and others for my miserable little failures. Of course, I did not believe in written goals. However, I quickly discovered that whatever other business I tried, I needed to adopt and utilize the same qualities and principles that I avoided or denied with the others.
I finally decided that I wanted to follow STRENGTH. I decided to follow and learn from leaders in the Network Marketing industry who are not afraid to work for what they want and willing to help others do the same; leaders who refuse to allow the negative attitudes of others to bring them down. Those are the people that I decided to follow and to inspire others to travel with me on the same road to success!
It wasn’t until I made the conscious decision to write down goals, which I didn’t see how I was going to achieve, that I began the road to achievement. I said to myself…That’s it! No more complaining. I will do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to succeed.
If your goals are important enough to you, you will learn how to do what it takes to build and lead an organization of people. After all, this is what it takes in order to earn and sustain the BIG income in Network Marketing.
If you’re not willing to take responsibility, then quit. Go ahead. Do something else, but remember this…you will STILL need to learn how to take responsibility with whatever you do. There’s no magic potion in any business. Success in business is not for lazy people who want everything handed to them on a silver platter; who think they can find an automated way to become rich!
It takes guts, failures, responsibility, hard work and written goals to succeed.
“People are not joining me!”
“People are joining and doing nothing!”
“People are quitting!”
“I can’t afford the monthly fee!”
So what? I don’t care. I’m going to keep going anyway. I’ll eat less to in order to pay for the monthly fee. I’ll keep showing the opportunity in spite of all those things.
In fact, even if the monthly fee increased and I don’t have the money, I would still eat less in order to pay for it. That’s just what I would do.
Some people have said, “You’re stupid, Kevin for continuing. Hardly anyone ever makes money in that. You’ll never make money!
Let them think and say those things. That just tells me I’m right on track! They were wrong. My persistence has paid off and so will yours if you STOP listening to negative well-meaning friends, relatives and associates who love to steal your dreams!
The reason why is because my goal is important enough to me not to give up, no matter what other people think, say or do. No matter what little results I am getting along the way, I will persist until I succeed and so should you.
Do not allow the negative attitude of most people to affect your journey of success. What they think about you or your industry is none of your business and irrelevant. Only what YOU think determines the level of responsibility you will take for your success in life.
Whether you believe it or not, you already have all of the qualities of becoming everything you would like to become. I don’t care what’s happening in your life. Success stories are filled with people who succeeded in spite of their personal circumstances. Study audios, books and videos of successful people every single day. Associate yourself with winners.
Take responsibility. Quit complaining. Read, see and believe yourself already in possession of your written goals. Do whatever it takes when it comes to building a network and heed my internet words from the heart!
You’re a winner. Start acting like one!

Kevin,
I know you are doing a great job in building us up. I am just not getting the responses I need. I am having a tough time right now, but I have not given up. I will do more and try harder to get my downline growing. Your article is going to light the fire I need.
Thanks.
Jim
Kevin,
You are always inspiring. I am having a tough time right now but I am not a quitter. I am hanging in there and continuing on.
Hey Kevin, you hit the nail on the head with what you said! It is true that most people can’t see the forest through the trees. I have not written down any goals yet, but they are always in the forefront of my mind. I will never give up!
Thanks for your “Words From the Heart”

There’s a lot to like about you Kevin, but for me it’s been your tenacity that has always been most inspirational to me in the long run. I can and have flittered in and out and do OK sometimes. Other times it’s a drought, yet you persist and do well. Your success is an example to others to…Persist in your dreams and they happen! I’ll try harder to persist.
Thanks,
Deedee
Building a Network – Internet Words From The Heart made me realize that there really are people who want to “get” but can’t “give”. How dare anyone criticize the one in leadership position when they aren’t the leader themselves. I’m the leader of my team no matter how big or small it is. I am in charge of my destiny. (I should add that God is too.) No way is another ‘person’ to blame for where I am in my life. Only ME! How’s the saying go? If it’s meant to be, it’s up to me?
Sometimes, we just need to find the path again! And, you always know Kevin’s up ahead of us chopping down the big trees in our way … thanks Kevin.
Thanks Kevin! You are so right and I do believe in everything you say. I just keep plugging along and just won’t quit. You lead by example and that is how success works. God bless you and your family!
Kevin,
You are clearly showing that “whether you think you can or you think you can’t… you’re right.” You’re proving daily to be a great example of success for everyone in the GDI Family to model.

Kevin, Great post! Your words always seem to be what a person needs to get his head screwed on right. This business is one of individual achievement. There is no one to fire you except yourself. Your goals or why first. Then simple repetition, follow your leaders, then lead your followers to be leaders. Best to you Kevin.

Hi Kevin,
I agree with you and thank you for your words of wisdom. I choose to be a winner. :)
